How do pre-authorized debit transactions work?
Pre-authorized debit transactions allow you to pay for your monthly subscription using a debit card instead of a credit card, for businesses based in Canada. In order to set up pre-authorized debit transactions, you'll first need to verify your bank account details through a secure page on our payment processor - you won't be able to add a debit card directly from the billing settings page. Once your bank account is verified and linked to your payment profile, your monthly subscription will be automatically charged to the debit card you've authorized. If you ever want to switch back to credit card payments, you'll just need to enter your credit card details in the billing settings page.
How do I set up pre-authorized debit transactions?
If you have a Canadian debit card, you can set up pre-authorized debit transactions by reaching out to us at support@resurva.com, and we'll get your account set up. On the first day of your next billing period, you'll receive an email with a link to an invoice payment page, where you'll be able to sign in to your bank account through a secure login, and then you'll select the account you'll use to make payments. You'll need to confirm the terms of the pre-authorized debit agreement, which allows us to charge your debit card for your monthly subscription payments.
You'll only need to complete this verification process once, and then your debit card will be set up for future payments. Your following subscription payments will continue as normal - you'll still be paying the same amount on the same day of the month, but payments will be taken from your debit card instead of being charged to your credit card. Each month, you'll be notified of the upcoming charge one day before the payment is collected.
How do I cancel pre-authorized debit transactions?
To switch back to making payments with a credit card, you can enter your credit card details on the billing settings page, by navigating to Settings > Billing and clicking Update Information. After you add your credit card details, reach out to us at support@resurva.com, and we'll remove the old debit card info and set your credit card as your default payment method. If you'd like to switch to a different debit card, just let us know, and we'll send you a new link to set up your debit card.
